You get notifications, when a new device is connecting to your network or if your internet is going down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don&#8217;t have VLANs or special requirements: go and get one for yourself and skip the rest of this post. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My &#8220;special&#8221; requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>integrate in my home automation (mqtt\/node-red)<\/li><li>support VLANs (I have different VLANs for security cams, cloud devices, servers, administration&#8230;)<\/li><li>running on my server (Proxmox), if I don&#8217;t get it in hardware<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Searching the internet I found <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/pucherot\/Pi.Alert\">pi.alert<\/a>, which is quite close to what I want. There are many forks of it implementing webhooks or other features but everything I tried out, lacked some features. I took a deep dive in the source code of pi.alert and discovered <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmap.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nmap<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>nmap is incredible: you can do fast scans of your network or deep portscans and even extract information about the ssl-certificates used by the devices. (No more expired certificates&#8230;)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Minimum_Viable_Product\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MVP <\/a>for replacing my Fingbox:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>every 2 minutes arp scan all my vlans and store results in postgres (node-red)<\/li><li>analyze scans and notify new devices (pushover)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Work_in_progress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WIP<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>scan implemented with node-red and nmap<\/li><li>store results in postgres<\/li><li>next step: implement notifications<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Did you know&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Proxmox uses the same MAC address on differen VLANs with different IPs? -> MAC adresses can have multiple IPs on different VLANs<\/li><li>arp-tables may have multiple IPs on the same VLAN\/mac on Raspberry connected through wlan and cable<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Should I document my node-red flows?
